What we do

There comes a time when every person must actually do something, no matter how small, to stand up for one’s concerns and beliefs. A time when sitting idly by and bemoaning will not suffice or contribute to fulfilling one’s hopes and desires. A time to help others who are working towards the fulfillment of your principles and shared beliefs. ThailandWildlife is such an undertaking. A project of, currently, two Thailand based wildlife photographers (Ian Edwardes and Paul Thompson) to do just that.

The remaining natural forests of Thailand, are under real and constant pressure from the advancement of man’s activities, especially encroachment, poaching and habitat loss. ThailandWildlife is dedicated to the belief that even small actions can help achieve larger goals, if one cares enough to do something about it. ThailandWildlife is a media acquisition project, we believe that media forms such as video and photography have immense value in conservation awareness and can, and should, be used to directly and indirectly support conservation. ThailandWildlife creates such media and uses both the media and derived funding to support the project’s goals. We create a variety of media concentrating on lesser known species, from the smallest of the Thai forest’s un-researched arthropod species to the Thailand’s most rare and cryptic mammals such as Thailand’s remaining 250 wild tigers.

We fund the project through sales of image and media licenses (to commercial and media companies) from this site. We donate 100% of all income generated to support and promote wildlife and habitat conservation projects and issues in Thailand. Yes that is correct, 100% of income (not just profit). This is a project based on an ideal and the highest of principles.

This is how we support wildlife and habitat conservation in Thailand:

Direct Support through our project:

Media & Awareness Materials - one of the main purposes of ThailandWildlife is to support the Department of National Parks (DNP) and the National Park Visitor Centres through the acquisition of media (photography, video, media files). Supported. kindly, by the DNP we create base media, primarily of rare cryptic wildlife, for the DNP to use in their publications and awareness materials. We also support local NGOs working on conservation in Thailand with base media files for their conservation literature and awareness materials as well as by financial donation.

Additionally we create media for direct showing at the National Park Visitors Centres. Currently we produce a poster set annually for display at the respective national parks to allow visitors a glimpse of the cryptic and difficult to see wildlife of the park, thereby increasing conservation awareness amongst a wider range of the public..

Research and Ranger Equipment - we directly support equipment purchases for NP Rangers and NP Researchers of the National Parks that we are operating in for our media acquisition activities. This is a very important objective of the project and we fast track equipment purchases to assist in ranger led research activities based on:

a) the research is taking place in the National Park we are currently concentrating on for media acquisition (officially sanctioned by DNP)

b) the equipment is not available through other means due to non-standardization

c) purchase of the equipment will directly support conservation of the wildlife of the park

In-direct Support through other entities:

We also provide direct financial support to local NGOs working in conservation activities associated with the Department of National Parks as well as independent researchers. Such organizations and researchers may apply for in-direct funding from ThailandWildlife, as per:

Non profit organizations working in forest or wildlife conservation in Thailand, can request consideration for funding donations if they are able to meet the following criteria:

a) Must allow donations to a specific project

b) Must not use donations to support administrative overhead costs.

c) Project must be in Thailand

d) Some form of feedback mechanism for donors (i.e. rudimentary website or project report)

Independent Researchers - can request consideration for funding on the basis of their research project, we will consider all primary and secondary research projects as long as:

a) the research is taking place in Thailand

b) the research is in regard to conservation of natural habitat or wildlife in Thailand.

We have an open mind to researchers using the funding for personal administration in relation to performing the project. Our intention is to assist the completion of relevant conservation research in any manner we may.
